A Week in the Colorado Mountains

Nothing like a little nature to make you remember what’s important.   I took a much needed sojourn to the mountains last week.   I rented a great little house called “The Dressmaker’s Cottage.   Leadville has always been one of my favorite mountain towns.   Its weird and quirky and artsy

Leadville was first settled in 1859 when placer gold was discovered in the area   It wasn’t until 1878, when the town petitioned for its first post office, that Horace Tabor gave the town it’s official name, Leadville, after lead ore was found in the area.   Its also home to the famous Tabor Opera House and the Matchless Mine, where Baby Doe Tabor lived until her death in 1935
